Enter via Pitsea Hall Lane, and follow the signs to the green centre car park. Car parking is available on site Our main station, Cllr Harrison junction, is just a short walk from the car park at the Green Centre. By Train The nearest railway station is Pitsea (served by c2c trains from London Fenchurch Street, Southend, and Shoeburyness). From Pitsea Station it’s around a 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride to the park entrance. By Bus Local bus services stop near Pitsea Broadway, just a short walk from the park entrance. From there, follow signs for Wat Tyler Country Park. Inside the Park Once inside Wat Tyler Country Park, follow the signs for Basildon Miniature Railway. Recently reopened after 6 years of abandonment and then an extensive restoration Tucked away in the heart of Wat Tyler Country Park, we operate on a 10¼ inch gauge line, offering an authentic railway experience in miniature form. Recently reopened after 6 years of abandonment and then an extensive restoration Tucked away in the heart of Wat Tyler Country Park, we operate on a 10¼ inch gauge line, offering an authentic railway experience in miniature form. Run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, our railway is more than just a train ride – it’s a community project that celebrates engineering, teamwork, and a love of railways. We maintain and operate a variety of locomotives, giving passengers the chance to enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of a real working railway on a smaller scale. Whether you’re joining us for a family day out, a special event, or simply to enjoy a ride through the park, we aim to create memories that last a lifetime. Our volunteers are always on hand to share their passion, answer questions, and welcome new members who’d like to get involved. To find out more about our locomotives and rolling stock Meet our Locomotives Cornish pixie a 0-6-2 steam outline diesel locomotive purchased from hastings miniature railway. built in 2016 by Rvm engineering, and fitted with Walschaerts valve gear, which is usually associated with steam locomotives. The design is based on Sir Haydn of the Talyllyn Railway. named Cornish Pixie because of her previous owner/driver’s love of Cornwall basil 0-6-2 shunting loco currently under construction by rvm engineering at Hastings. hasty a bo-bo steam outline diesel locomotive on loan from ropley miniature railway. built in 2013 by rvm engineering in Hastings sir duke a bo-bo Steam outline diesel locomotive, currently away at Hastings Miniature Railway awaiting rebuild.. Originally built in 1984 in Hastings and named 'Mis Nat', it was sold on from Hastings in 1993. the period from 1993 until 2000 is sketchy, the locomotive was bought from a farm in 2000 with the name 'dixie'. between 2000 until 2005 ran sporadically on Basildon miniature railway until being stored until 2013. in 2013 return to hasting miniature railway and operated for a number of years before being withdrawn pending a rebuild.
